A reminder to all golfers at Twin Creeks Golf: pitch marks don’t fix themselves. With our greens kept soft during the summer months, unrepaired pitch marks are causing lasting damage and creating uneven putting surfaces that affect everyone’s game.

Every golfer has a responsibility to repair their pitch marks, replace divots, rake bunkers, and help playing partners do the same. These simple acts of course etiquette make a significant difference to the quality of our playing surfaces and ensure everyone can enjoy their round.

The Impact of Unrepaired Pitch Marks

During summer, our greens are maintained with extra moisture to keep them healthy in the heat. While this creates excellent playing conditions, it also means balls create deeper pitch marks on landing. Left unrepaired, these marks can take weeks to heal and create bumpy, inconsistent putting surfaces that frustrate all players.

When you repair a pitch mark immediately, the grass can recover within 24 hours. When left unattended, the same mark can take up to three weeks to heal and may never return to its original condition. The difference is significant, and it’s in all our hands to maintain the quality of our course.

Get the Right Tools and Technique

Pitch repair tools are available in the Pro Shop for those who need them. Our team is always happy to demonstrate the correct repair technique to ensure you’re helping rather than causing further damage. The proper method involves gently pushing the edges toward the centre and tamping down with your putter, not lifting the turf.
